The Loose Leash Walking Academy

Dog Leash Walking Hancock Park

Are you tired of being dragged down the street by your dog? Do you arms ache from holding on for dear life?  Do you hide from neighbors and friends, embarrassed by your dog's behavior?  Have you tried everything and are ready to give up?

There is hope for you and your dog

Solid loose leash walking is a skill building exercise, like learning to play the piano or ballroom dancing. Rather than suppressing behavior through pain, force or coercion (leash pops, painful collars), we train the behavior we want:  walking by our side.  There are many moving parts involved, and we break it down skill by skill to give our clients maximum success.

Our Deluxe Program Covers:

  • Clicker training mechanics for humans

  • Reducing Arousal

  • Attention and Focus

  • Collar Cues

  • Impulse Control

  • Polite Door Behavior

  • Handling Distractions

  • Management - Getting From A-Z

We empower owners and give them confidence by setting manageable goals and using consistent, clear criteria.

This program does not address dogs that are reactive on leash (barking, lunging, growling at other dogs).  For reactive dogs, please see our Chaos to Calm program.  Multi-dog households will be required to work on each dog, separately.

What you need to know to get started:

  • This is an owner/dog interactive program.  Owners will be working hands on with their dog.  In very little time, you'll be walking your dog like an expert.  Our clients are often mistaken for professional trainers!

  • Before outdoor/on-leash training lessons commence, your dog will be required to be on a front clip harness and 6 foot leash.  No prong/pinch, choke, martingale, eCollars or retractible leashes.  For our loose leash walking program, owners will be required to have a second front clip harness to be used exclusively for this program.

This program is only available for in-person clients located in Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley.  Areas in our travel zone:  Encino, Tarzana, Reseda, Northridge, Woodland Hills, Chatsworth, Calabasas, West Hills, Hidden Hills, Canoga Park, Porter Ranch, Lake Balboa.
